The Iowa DOT held a Public Information Meeting on Tuesday, May 5th at the Giovannetti Community Shelter in Urbandale to discuss the proposed improvements at the Interstate 35/80 and Iowa 141 interchange (Rider Corner) in Polk County. The meeting was an open forum and DOT Staff was present to answer any questions about the five different alternatives which were posted for attendees to review. The DOT asked attendees to provide comments on the project purpose, needs or alternatives presented by filling out a comment form at the meeting.
Ross Harris, JEDCO Vice President, is leading a team of HR Green’s environmental specialists to complete environmental documentation for the Rider Corner and NW 100th Street Interchange projects. HR Green is also completing the Interchange Justification Report for the project. The IJR and NEPA studies are required by the Federal Highway Administration to change access on I-35 and I-80. The IJR includes coordination between the FHWA, Iowa DOT, local and metropolitan officials, and the public at large. A decision on the preferred build alternative is expected in July of 2015.
If you were unable to attend the meeting you can still review the different alternatives and provide comment on the DOT Website. The deadline for comment is May 18th.
