On Monday, January 27, 2014 the Johnston Planning and Zoning Commission considered and then declined to approve a propose change in the Comprehensive Plan to allow for a proposed new housing development in the NW area of Johnston. While the proposed development would have provided no more than 1.5 housing units per acre, neighboring property owners objected to the proposed change and expressed a preference for maintaining the Rural Density Residential designation (requiring 3 acres lots). City planning staff had advanced the proposal to the Commission without recommendation.
